About The Carry Desk
The Carry Desk publishes plain-English guides to concealed carry permits, reciprocity, and carrying legally when you travel. We write for everyday, law-abiding adults: people who carry, people who are thinking about it, and people who just want to understand the rules.
Who we are
The Carry Desk is an independent publisher. The site is owned and operated by Elite Growth Ventures, LLC. We're not a government agency, a law firm, or a training provider, and we're not affiliated with any state permitting authority.
What we cover
- How concealed carry permits work, and how to get ready to apply
- Reciprocity: which permits other states honor, and why it changes
- Permitless carry, and what it does and doesn't cover
- Resident and non-resident permits
- Traveling across state lines
- Federal legislation that could affect permit holders, explained without the spin
Our editorial approach
- Plain English. Short sentences, no jargon. If a legal term matters, we explain it.
- Accuracy over hype. We don't predict what Congress will do, and we don't promise outcomes. When something is pending or uncertain, we say so.
- Check the source. Carry laws vary by state. We point you to your state's official resources, because they have the final word.
- We update. Laws change. We review our guides and update them when they do. If you spot something out of date, please tell us.
- We're not lawyers. Our guides are general information, not legal advice. For questions about your specific situation, talk to a licensed attorney in your state.
How we make money
Some pages on The Carry Desk include links to partner services, such as an online permit eligibility check. If you complete an application or purchase through one of those links, we may earn a commission. Partners don't write or approve our articles. Read our full affiliate disclosure.
